About Us

It all began out of a necessity to repair the bikes we rode. The first shop was a humble set up in the woodshed on a farm in Erin, Ontario. The majority of the bikes we worked on were Suzuki RM’s, Yamaha YZ’s and the occasional 4 stroke Honda trail bike.

Sasquatch Cycle then moved to Collingwood Ontario in 1986 where the shop had retained its humble status until 2004 when the retro bike craze began to rise in popularity.

As of 2007/08 Sasquatch Cycle does most of its business south of the border where vintage motorcycle racing and the retro bike part business is at its peak. Old motorcycle brand names like Husky, Maico, CZ, BSA and of course Hondas and Suzuki have made a remarkable comeback. Guys are dragging these old machines out of the back shed, restoring them and racing them on vintage friendly tracks all across the US from coast to coast. Some of these vintage bikes have actually tripled in value from their original purchase price in the 70’s and have become quite the valued collectors pieces.

Sasquatch Cycle deals in a number of retro brands of bike and has both used and NOS parts for these bikes. We currently own a number of Hodakas, Can ams, Greeves, BSA’s, Yamahas Suzukis, Huskys, CZ’s and Montesas our parts inventory grows annually.   Technically vintage motorcycles are considered to be bikes built prior to 1975 ( According to the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association rule book) Bikes built after 1975 to the mid 80’s are considered Post vintage. There were also several models of 1975 motorcycles that fall into the vintage category due to the suspension set up.

Bike eras are defined by their suspension, with the oldest bikes having twin shocks and only 2 ½ of travel. Newer bikes had longer shocks and greater travel with eventually morphed into the mono-shock era of the 80’s.

Do you own a vintage bike in the back shed worth some money? Contact us and we’d be happy to tell you about your bike, its value and the availability of parts for your machine. We also purchase machines for fair market value (depending on the condition of course). Sasquatch Cycle currently has two locations for your convenience. One in Wasaga Beach Ont. and another in Erin Ont.

Our Staff

Jim

Our staff is dedicated to the preservation of vintage motorcycles. WE build ‘em and ride ‘em. As founding co owner of Sasquatch Cycle I’ve been riding and racing bikes for over 40 years. My first bike was a Yamaha 60 cc Mini- Enduro ( purchase with insurance money right after my 10 speed was stolen from the school parking lot). I first got into racing under the Direction of Jon Ooosterman National world Champion MX rider and founder of the Flying Dutchman MC. I became a member of the Flying Dutchman MC in the early 70’s and participated annually for many years in the ever popular 2Hour MX enduros. In 1976 I won second place in the 2hr enduro series. I joined CMA back in the mid-70’s and raced the crazy 125 Junior MX Class. After a long break I rejoined CMA in 2001and raced the hare scramble series for 3 seasons. Now at 50 years old I’m still an active AMA and AHRMA member. I race vintage bikes in the US circuit whenever I can and its become a growing passsion. I also participate in the odd AMA GNCC event just for fun and to say I did it. Someday I hope to even conquer the Baja 1,000.

In 2006 I held the National Cross Country Novice Class number 1 Plate and in 2007 won second place in the same class on a 1971 BSA 250. Some of the bikes I currently race are a 2005 Yamaha WR 250, 1975 Can am 250 TNT, a 1971 Montesa King Scorpion 250, 1971 BSA B-25 250 and a 1973 Hodaka 100 Ace. I currently own over 20 bikes and always have my eye out for that unusual brand. Some of the more interesting bikes in my collection at the north shop are my 1940 Indian (I might try to roadrace some day), my 68 Greeves 360 Challenger, my 68 441 Victor BSA, my 2 B-25 250 BSA, My SX 250 Harley and my to Can ams. Most of the motorcycle sales and parts distribution are handled from the north shop. The north shop boasts over 800 sq ft of floor space with over 20 race ready bikes in stock. The shop is located on Hwy 26 and Line 4, halfway between Wasaga Beach and Collingwood Ont.

Greg

Greg my younger brother manages the south shop in Erin with his partner Paul (DYNO GUY). Greg began riding in the early 70’s and his first bike was the infamous Honda z50 Mini trail which we purchased together as a basket case. We managed to get that bike to run between us and shared it for many years. Greg moved on to a YZ 125 and raced the Flying Dutchman 2 hour enduros. Greg has owned a number of 125 and 250’s suzukis and Yamahas, currently he has a fine collection of vintage iron including the Bultaco 250 Pursang & the Honda 250 Elsinore which will beat the dirt along with his other collectibles.

Paul
Paul is the Head Mechanic at Sasquatch Cycle. Pauls skill as a mechanic are invaluable. If we don’t have the parts for a bike Paul can build it. Paul began riding when he was 10 years old around the many trails of Base Borden in Angus Ont. Paul then moved to Ottawa and drifted on to road bikes.
Like Greg and I Paul has come full circle back to his roots in the
dirt and within the last year has built several remarkable dual sport and offroad motorcycles.
